NBI Clearance Change Status – If you are planning to change your status on your NBI clearance, then you came to the right place. This article will show you the best and most appropriate way how to process your change status on your clearance.
Changing your personal details is a dilemma for people especially those who just got married and need to change their status immediately. Honestly, a lot of people hate long queues and processes. So this article will help you to find the easiest way to change your status on your NBI Clearance.
Since NBI clearance is easier to change and less expensive compared to other important documents like Philippine Passport, it would be better if we process it first. So let’s get started.
NBI CLEARANCE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
These requirements are just the same as the standard application. However, there is some additional document in changing your status and surname.
- A recognized appointment with any NBI Clearance Branch.
- This could mean that you should have registered an online application on the NBI Clearance Online Website.
- NBI Clearance Application Proof of Payment.
You can choose your preferred payment option based on what is suited to your situation. You can choose from the following payment options:
- Bank over the counter ( just go to your preferred bank branch like BDO, BPI, RCBC, Landbank, Metrobank, and many more)
- Online bank (BDO Internet Banking, BPI Express Online, Unionbank EON, and etcetera.)
- Bayad center outlets (LBC, Palawan Pawnshop, Villarica Pawnshop, Cebuana Lhuillier, Waltermart, Robinsons, SM Savemore, and many more.

Completing all the requirements will enable you to process your application smoothly with less difficulty. So it is better to complete this first before going to the Clearance Center.
NBI CLEARANCE CHANGE STATUS PROCESS
The process of changing your last name in the NBI clearance is considered to be a new application regardless if you have your clearance recently. As long as you are changing some important details in your name, you have to accept that this process is considered a new application.
Here are the steps in applying for NBI Clearance:
STEP 1: CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT ON THE NBI CLEARANCE WEBSITE.
- Go to the NBI clearance website https://clearance.nbi.gov.ph/
- Register as a new account using your new name (applicable for women who recently just got married and bear a new last name from their husbands)
STEP 2: FILL OUT THE APPLICANT INFORMATION.
- Complete all the needed information on the “Applicant Information” page. (Remember that this is a new application. There’s no point if you are going to use your old last name. That won’t help you in changing your status by the way.)
- Schedule your preferred appointment date and time after you completed your registration for a new account.
STEP 3: NBI CLEARANCE PAYMENT
You can choose your preferred payment option based on what is suited to your situation. You can choose from the following payment options:
- Bank over the counter
- Online bank
- Bayad center outlets
- ECPay
- 7- Eleven
(Refer to the payment options mentioned above)
The NBI clearance costs Php 130 and an additional fee of Php 25 for the service charge of the payment service brings to a total of Php 155.
STEP 4: PROCESSING OF YOUR NBI CLEARANCE APPLICATION
- Go to the NBI Clearance Center that you have chosen on your scheduled appointment date and don’t forget to bring all the required documents (most importantly your marriage certificate), reference number, payment slip, and two valid IDs
- Present your Marriage Certificate
- The NBI Processor will check your name and other personal information in their nationwide database.
- Your biometrics will be taken
STEP 5: ISSUANCE OF YOUR NEW NBI CLEARANCE
- Wait for the NBI clearance to be printed and issued to you.
- You will be able to claim your clearance in just a few minutes if you don’t have a namesake. However, if there’s a “HIT” (which means that you have a namesake with a criminal record), the NBI will take more time to verify and check your real identity. They will tell you to come back on a certain date usually a week or more.
- Two (2) copies of your NBI Clearance will be given to you – one for your official use and one as a personal copy. The NBI clearance is valid for one (1) year only. You can easily renew your Clearance through the same website you applied for using the same account.
Gentle Reminders:
- You have to inform the NBI clearance processor that you are going to change some of your important details and then show your marriage certificate.
- You must register online first before going to the NBI Clearance Center to avoid your time getting wasted since the NBI is strictly implementing the “NO APPOINTMENT, NO ENTRY” Policy.
- Please wear appropriate attire on your appointment date. Remove unnecessary accessories like eyeglasses especially if your photo will be taken for biometrics.
NBI Clearance is one of the most important documents here in the Philippines. This document is often required in various transactions. So, make sure to keep it updated and authentic to prevent problems in your future transactions.
And that ends my tutorial on how you can make changes to your NBI Clearance. I hope this article has helped you somehow.
