The SSS Maternity Benefits is one of the benefits given by the Social Security System (SSS) to the women who cannot work because of childbirth, miscarriage, or emergency termination of pregnancy. Who can apply for SSS Maternity Benefits?
The SSS Maternity Benefits is only offered to the SSS members who are female and who meet the following conditions listed below.
- The SSS member who wishes to apply for SSS Maternity Benefits must have paid at least three (3) months of her monthly contribution within the twelve (12) month period before the semester of her childbirth, miscarriage, or emergency termination of pregnancy.
- An SSS member who is currently employed must notify her employer regarding their pregnancy.
- An SSS member who is self-employed, separated from employment, or an OFW must notify the SSS directly regarding her pregnancy.
Guide and Steps to Reimburse SSS Maternity Benefits
SSS members who are Employed must
- Immediately inform your employer regarding your pregnancy at least 60 days from the date of conception.
- Please fill out and accomplish the SSS Maternity Notification Form and submit it to your employer.
- After you notify your employer and submit the Maternity Notification Form, they will forward the requirements to the SSS, which includes: (1) The maternity notification form, (2) UMID ID Card, SSS biometrics ID Card, or any two valid IDs containing your signature, date of birth, and photo (3) Proof of pregnancy (ultrasound)
- Once you have secured a duly stamped Maternity Notification, you can now go to the nearest SSS branch to file for SSS Maternity Benefits. Bring with you the following requirements:
- Maternity Notification Form duly stamped and received by SSS.
- Maternity Reimbursement Form
- UMID ID Card, SSS biometrics ID Card, or any two (2) valid IDs containing your signature, date of birth, and photo
SSS Members who are Unemployed, Self-employed, Voluntary members, or Recently separated from employment
- Directly go to the nearest SSS branch in your area for Maternity Notification, or you can submit it online.
Online Submission of Maternity Notification
- Go to the SSS online website www.sss.gov.ph Log into your My.SSS account (make sure that you have a registered account at the SSS website first before starting your online application).
- Click the “E-service” tab.
- Click “Submit Maternity Notification”
- Fill out the required information of employee-member, SSS number,, expected date of delivery, and the allocation of maternity leave credits.
- After completing the form, click the “Submit List” button, then “Print” to print the created maternity notification.
- You will be given a transaction number as proof of the successful transaction.
- Once you have secured your Maternity Notification, you can now go to the nearest SSS branch to file for SSS Maternity Benefits. Bring with you the following requirements:
For Self-employed and Voluntary members:
- Maternity Notification Form duly stamped and received by the Social Security System (SSS)
- Maternity Reimbursement Form
- UMID ID Card, SSS biometrics ID Card, or any two (2) valid IDs containing your signature, date of birth, and photo
For Separated members:
- Maternity Reimbursement Form
- A Certification from the previous employer showing the effective date of separation from employment, Notice of companies closure, or Certification from DOLE that the employee or employer has a pending labor case
- A Certification that there is no advance payment given before separation
- UMID ID Card, SSS biometrics ID Card, or any two (2) valid IDs containing your signature, date of birth, and photo
Other Additional Requirements
- For Normal Delivery – Certified True Copy of an authenticated copy of a duly registered birth certificate. If the child dies or is stillborn in any case, submit a duly registered death or fetal death certificate.
- For Cesarean Delivery – Certified true copy of an authenticated copy of a duly registered birth certificate and certified true copy of operating room record or surgical memorandum.
- For Miscarriage or Abortion – For miscarriage and incomplete abortion, submit an obstetrical history stating the number of pregnancies duly certified by the attending physician and dilation and curettage report. For complete abortion, a pregnancy test before and after abortion with the age of gestation and hydropathy report is required.
How to claim SSS Maternity Benefits?
For Employed SSS members – If you are qualified for the Maternity Benefits, your employer is required to give the benefits in advance within thirty (30) days from your maternity leave. The SSS will reimburse your employer 100% of the determined account.
For Separated, Voluntary, and Self-employed SSS members – They will transfer the Maternity Benefits directly to your bank accounts.
As an SSS rule, none of its members can receive two benefits for the same period. Hence, a female SSS member cannot claim Sickness Benefit for 60 days (for standard delivery or miscarriage) and 78 days (for cesarean delivery).
How much can I get from SSS Maternity Benefits?
Qualified members can get an SSS Maternity Benefits up to P70,000 (maximum) provided that they are paying their monthly contributions under the new monthly salary credit of P20,000.
How many times can an SSS member file for SSS Maternity Benefits?
As per the SSS guidelines, there is no limit to the number of times you can avail of the SSS Maternity Benefits for childbirth or miscarriage. But take note that you will only be paid once for every miscarriage, pregnancy, or delivery regardless of how many numbers of babies they are for every pregnancy.
